SANDSTONE
This quilt was originally designed for use with a Southwest colors fabric collection
called "Sandstone" by King's Road Imports. I was inspired by the sandstone building blocks used in a
Northeastern Ohio mansion that is now the main lodge at Punderson State Park. The easy to cut rectangles
and squares assemble into large blocks. It's an excellent beginner quilt that uses only six fabrics. I
like to start the fabric assortment with a large colorful print and choose five other prints to coordinate with it.
It also makes a terrific “background” for appliqué designs when pieced in an assortment of "background"
prints from your stash! The original pattern is sized for large lap and double. Just recently, I've
add a crib size layout and instructions for optional flying geese units to give this simple quilt a whole new look.
